Catwalk Round-Up For Spring Summer 14

As Spring is now upon us and summer is only a few weeks away, it’s time to give your wardrobe a spring clean and inject it with some colour! The shops are full of new prints, shapes and hues and this can only mean one thing…some fabulous new makeup trends!!

This season the catwalks were a flurry with raw, natural, beauty. This means concealing all our flaws and defining our best features rather than trying to transform ourselves in to someone completely different. Steering away from mascara, eyes are kept minimal with a wash of pale colour. As for hair, that big bouncy blow dry is out! Poker straight hair is back, as designers opted for ironed locks with a preppy centre parting.

Wash of blue colour you ask?!? Well forget the eighties… this season we are seeing shades of azure, aqua, sapphire and sky but the light wash over the lids looks every inch 2014! Flashes of electric blue are used on the lower lash with bold blocks of opaque colour across the lids as seen at Marc Jacobs. The rest of the face makeup is kept minimal to let the eyes do the talking.

Bronzed skin is another big trend this season and looks great paired with sultry black eyeliner and sleek, straight hair. Alternatively you can look to the seventies for your summer glow and bronze eyes to compliment a bright matte lip.

For a more rebellious look, steer away from mascara, pair with fresh, natural skin, and apply eyeliner along the lower lash line or in am almond shape with a smudgey kohl effect. This gives a bad girl take on a classic beauty trend and looks hot! On the catwalk liner was worn thick under the eyes at Carven and right into the inner corners at Missoni.

S/S14 may have taken a step towards the dark side which is unusual for spring, but our favourite summer colours remain with bold, bright and warm bronze hues. Joined by cool purples, smokey greys and dusty greens they give this season a new lease of life. Burberrys Spring Storm Collection has been inspired by London weather so it is fair to say that they would have elements of a dark moody appearance. Caite also have a new spring nail collection which includes a colour called “She’s Electric” in a deep purple with a blue pearlescnt effect it compliments this seasons new colours perfectly.

So, whether it is a mascara free, kohl smudged eye, clean fresh faced skin or a nod to the seventies with bronzed lids it is fair to say that these new make-up trends are set to take the make-up world by storm!

If you decide to give any of these new trends a go, we would love to see your pictures…please send them to us at @ndmakeupartists and we will re-tweet our favourites!
